Dr. Madsen graduated cum laude, phi beta kappa, with a degree in physics from Brigham Young University. He then attended
Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons where he was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society and won the
Rosamond Kane Cummins award. He performed his residency in orthopaedic surgery with Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell
University. He then attended the John H. Moe fellowship for spinal surgery at Twin Cities Spine Center. Afterwards, he performed
a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical spinal surgery fellowship with Professor Jürgen Harms of the University of Heidelberg
in Germany.
Dr. Madsen joined the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in July of 2007. He specializes in the surgical treatment of the cervical and
lumbar spine. His areas of interest include minimally invasive surgery, treatment of spinal deformities, trauma, and motion
sparing surgery such as disc arthroplasty.
Dr. Madsen and his wife live in Denver with their children. They enjoy basketball, running, and hiking in their spare time.
